Nuggles!™ Cloth ON-THE-GO Challenge!
This challenge is to create awareness that cloth diapers can
be used outside of the home during your travels. Using
Nuggles! Tuck-Wrap-Go covers with a reusable or disposable
insert is easy to do, where ever you are!
Use your Tuck-Wrap-Go covers with either a reusable or
disposable insert (in conjunction with your other cloth diapers
or eco-friendly disposables) in one of the following travel
situations: CAMPING, HOTELLING, OR COUCH-SURFING (visiting
friends or family in their home).
WHY TRY TUCK-WRAP-GO COVERS WHILE TRAVELLING?
Less bulk - roll up reusable inserts, and fold covers in half to take up less space in your suitcase!
Covers are reusable - unless soiled, simply replace a soaked insert with a new one in the same cover. That way you can pack less. Pack approx. 1 cover per 3 diaper changes.
Compatible with disposable inserts - use a compostable, biodegradable insert if you are travelling with no access to laundry facilities.
Covers are easy to hand rinse/wash and quick to dry if soiled with no access to laundry facilities.
HOW DO I USE CLOTH WHILE TRAVELLING?
CAMPING
1) Determine how long you'll be going.
3 days or less: use your regular cloth diapers or inserts with covers! You can wash them when you return home.
What you'll need:
-
Enough changes for daytime and nighttime on all the days you'll be travelling.
-
A pail or large wetbag to store dirties (try our Hanging Pail with a pouch for a scent disk!)
-
Cloth wipes or eco-friendly biodegradeble disposable wipes.
More than 3 days: consider using your regular cloth diapers or inserts with covers for the LAST 3 days, then pack enough covers and disposable inserts for the other days. Pack approx. 1 cover per 3 diaper changes. Hand-rinse soiled covers well before throwing in the pail, or consider hand washing for extended trips.
What you'll need:
-
Enough changes for daytime and nighttime on all the days you'll be travelling.
-
Eco-friendly, biodegradeble and compostable disposable inserts.
-
A pail or large wetbag to store dirties (try our Hanging Pail with a pouch for a scent disk!)
-
Cloth wipes or eco-friendly biodegradeble disposable wipes.
-
Optional handwashing (it's easy!): Two buckets and a set of rubber gloves. One to wash covers with eco-friendly soap and water, the other to rinse. Check your campground regulations on where to properly dump your wash water. Hang dry on a line for a short period (avoid direct sunlight to protect lamination). Alternatively lay them down on a towel or a table to dry.
If you choose a biodegradable/compostable insert, you can toss soiled & wet inserts into the outhouse. They are also designed to be flushable if you first break them open (just tear in two). DO NOT however, throw them in a septic system, like your RV toilet!

Access to laundry facilities: many hotels offer laundry service, but you may want to do some research ahead of time to determine costs and policy on soiled items. Alternatively use a coin laundry to wash your pre-rinsed covers. Covers are easy to wash, can be done on a shorter cycle if necessary, and you don't require special detergent. You can also lay them out to dry in your hotel room (make sure to leave a note for your cleaning lady NOT to touch or remove your diapers!)

Access to laundry facilities: use your host's laundry facilities! You might want to check with them ahead of time to make sure they are A-OK with this. Bribe them with a bottle of wine if necessary. Remember, pre-rinsed covers are easy to wash, can be done on a shorter cycle if necessary, and you don't require special detergent. You can also hang or lay them out to dry. Alternatively use a coin laundry to wash your pre-rinsed covers.
